Each Wednesday I ask a different artist the same three questions.
This week's featured artist, Sally Taylor, is a wonderful human being, an amazing artist, and a dedicated patron of the arts in Swindon and beyond.
1. What first sparked your interest in creating art?
I grew up in a creative family and was always drawing and making things from a small child. It has always been ‘who I am’.
2. What are your regrets?
I’m not sure I have any regrets. I didn’t particularly use my time at art school wisely, or have any understanding of what I would do afterwards.
3. What wisdom would you offer someone beginning their art career, or exploring art for the first time at any stage in life?
Being creative is always rewarding at what ever age. A career in the arts is difficult, there is no linear path as I found after art school. I learnt that you just keep at it, whatever space/ time you have. Enjoying what you do and working at it even when it doesn’t seem to be going anywhere. Finding like-minded people and being part of a support network I think is vital.
