Artist Paul Exton shares his artistic wisdom.
Each Wednesday I ask a different artist the same three questions.
This week's featured artist is someone local whom I greatly admire—Paul Exton. He's a mentor to me (though he may not know it), and his calming influence has been a guiding force. As a fellow studio mate, Paul established Artsite with a group of local artists, over 20 years ago!
1. What first sparked your interest in creating art?
Getting the opportunity to go to art college was the spark for many adventures and journeys with art.
2. What are your regrets?
No regrets. Art has been a fantastic way into another world which not many people experience. So I’m glad I chose to get involved.
3. What wisdom would you offer someone beginning their art career, or exploring art for the first time at any stage in life?
Just get stuck in. Explore, experiment, learn from other artists, and be led by moments of inspiration. Overcome any fears and insecurities and give it a go.
